Vintage Marine Sales Literature
  • Do you own a classic Chris-Craft, or other brand of antique boat?
  • Would you like to have the original literature that was published by the manufacturer for your classic boat when the boat was made, but has now been long out-of-print?
  • Or, would you like to find old boating magazines with stories, photos, and ads for your boat or other boats, motors, and equipment from that bygone era?

  • - Welcome to the website for vintage marine sales literature. Original old boat literature is our only business. We have a very large stock of out-of-print original sales catalogs, sales brochures, data sheets, specification sheets, flyers, factory photos, and price lists, from the 1890s to the 1980s. Also, we have service manuals, parts lists, and owners' manuals. These original documents cover over 500 brands of wooden boats, fiberglass boats, metal boats, motor boats, canoes, rowboats, inboard engines, outboard motors, and related marine gear. A few of the brands covered are Chris-Craft, Century, Gar Wood, Lyman, Penn Yan, Thompson, Richardson, Mercury, Evinrude, Johnson, Kermath, Scripps, Gator, Perko, and Michigan Wheel. In addition, we carry a large variety of old boating magazines from the 1890s to the 1970s. These include Motor Boating, Motor Boat, Yachting, Rudder, Popular Boating, and many others. If you're into nostalgia, these magazines will really bring back memories of the good old days, and some of the artwork, especially on the covers, is amazing.

Mahogany Bay Acquires Vintage Marine Sales Literature

Mahogany Bay is pleased to announce the acquisition of Vintage Marine Sales Literature, located in South Bristol, ME. Among vintage boat aficionados, VMSL has long been known as the premier resource for hard-to-find original catalogs, magazines, and sales brochures. Nat Hammond, proprietor of VMSL, has been a familiar face at boat shows and gatherings for many years.

“This acquisition fits perfectly with the Mahogany Bay core philosophy of preservation”, remarked Mahogany Bay Chairman Todd Warner. “We value the ability to make objective determinations about what is or is not original in the boat restoration process. The access to Nat’s personal collection gives us even more depth and detail. Likewise, the preservation of the literature itself provides important insight to our nautical heritage.”

“We’ve found our existing archive invaluable as a restoration resource”, added Mahogany Bay President Dave Bortner. “ This acquisition will allow us to add to our archive, while also helping other collectors expand their holdings. There will be a transition period, as we move Nat’s inventory to Minnesota, but our new web site will provide an expanded dimension and ease of viewing and purchasing to the vintage literature business.”
